The effects of bilingualism on cognitive performance Lead Investigator: Laura Wojtulewicz Institution : Arizona State University E-Mail : whitz@asu.edu Proposal ID : 783 Proposal Description: We intend to replicate studies such as Bilingualism: The good, the bad and the indifferent by Ellen Bialystok in Bilingualism: Language and Cognition/VOl 12/Issue 1 January 2009. We would like to add to the body of evidence that bilingualism affects cognitive performance during normal aging and has protective factors in the AD population. We aim to show how bilingualism can enhance executive functioning in both normal controls and affected individuals. We are also interested in discovering any other cognitive benefits utilizing the vast array of cognitive tests in the UDS battery.
